Anyone who spends a few minutes in the presence of Alexandre Rodrigues understands his painting. Free from the need of intellectual explanations, his pictures run free under their own control, understandable only to those who know they are alive.

With several expression lines, different influences dripping on his canvasses, abrupt modifications in his way of reading and interpreting the world. That’s the way Alexandre is. His painting is no different. And, in everything, it is a unique way of feeling the world and to being in it.

His art is alive, vibrant, and eclectic. He knows his dominion, and advances it even so, placing colors and light, moving backward and forward amid the whites and blacks, making the most of everything that is delightful among them. White harmonizes, black determines. Harmony and determination, always with a lot of colour.

The consequence of this is that his paintings are filled with happiness, as if the vigor and the mastery of his strokes wanted to startle the world’s unsteadiness and disregard.
